Colorado’s Governor, Bill Ritter, Jr., recently issued an Executive Order (B 007 07) creating the Colorado Rural Health Grant Council. The Council is responsible for developing and providing oversight for a new grant program funded by the UnitedHealth Group. The Colorado Rural Health Care Grant Council is pleased to release a Request for Applications for the new Colorado Rural Heath Care Grant Program. Through the Colorado Rural Health Care Grant Program, a total of $7.5 million is available for grant funds from 2008-2012. The Council is planning to award a minimum of $1 million per year in grants, over the next five years, through scheduled grant cycles. The purpose of this grant program is to fund projects that support Colorado’s rural health infrastructure and strengthen the capacity of rural entities to provide primary care services. Organizations that are located outside of Colorado’s Urbanized Areas and that provide outpatient primary care services – including medical, oral, and mental health services – are eligible to apply. The Colorado Rural Health Center (CRHC) has been asked to manage this grant program.
