CEO Update: Gratitude

Every year at this time I’m reminded of the amazing people I get to surround myself with: family, friends, coworkers, partners, and our rural healthcare community. These people inspire me to be creative and think innovatively when things might seem impossible. I’m forever grateful to you all.
I’m also grateful for the opportunity to raise the rural voice by celebrating National Rural Health Day. Each year, CRHC selects a rural community to highlight for National Rural Health Day. This day brings awareness of the great work and innovation that happens within our rural communities and this year Southwest Health System in Cortez Colorado was highlighted and received a Governor’s proclamation.
Southwest Health System serves as a vital safety net hospital in the state’s geographically isolated Montezuma County. In addition to providing urgent and emergent healthcare services, the health system serves patients with comprehensive primary and specialty care.
Thank you to all of our rural facilities for providing quality access to care and for the people serving as pillars in their communities.
As the year end draws near, CRHC continues to work hard to meet our mission to enhance healthcare services in the state by providing information, education, linkages, tools, and energy toward addressing rural health issues. And our vision to improve healthcare services available in rural communities to ensure that all rural Coloradoans have access to comprehensive, affordable, high quality healthcare. I’d like to invite you to continue to stand with us in strengthening rural healthcare across Colorado as we enter the next year. Giving Tuesday falls on December 2nd and Colorado Gives Day on December 9th, but there’s no need to wait. You can make your gift anytime, and every contribution will move us closer to a stronger, healthier future for rural Colorado.

This upcoming year is especially meaningful for us. In 2026, we will celebrate our 35th anniversary as Colorado’s State Office of Rural Health and Rural Health Association. For nearly three and a half decades, partners like you have helped us expand resources, enhance training, and tirelessly advocate for rural clinics and hospitals. Your generosity and support are woven into every milestone we’ve reached.
Happy Thanksgiving.
