2019 AED Grant Opportunity

Project Background

Colorado Rural Health Center was awarded a contract with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment with funding from HB 19-1183 to place AEDs in public places to be accessible to any individual to retrieve and use during perceived cardiac arrest emergencies. This opportunity is only open to Colorado entities.

Any Colorado public school or person who owns, operates, or manages a public place, either enclosed indoor or outdoor area capable of holding one hundred people or more to which the public is invited or in which the public is permitted, but does not include a private residence is encourage to apply for the opportunity to receive an AED.

Applications are now being accepted, the deadline to submit an application is 5:00PM, Friday, October 18.

This opportunity is very competitive. Applications will be scored based on the quality of the application, how well need is stated, and financial need.

Notice of successful grant awards will be by email on or before November 11, 2019.  Successful applicants agree to sign a distribution agreement detailing recipient agency information, location of the AED, maintenance provisions, and agree to future reporting requirements to CRHC.  Unsuccessful applicants will not be notified.

Distribution of the AEDs will be on an individual and in-person basis.  CRHC will provide a press release to successful applicants to be used to inform the public, local EMS and the public safety dispatch center of the new AED.
