CREATE Tip of the Week – What’s Covered by CREATE
0 Comments
Upon preparing your application for an Financial Waiver or ERC review, you want to make sure that not only your application is complete and turned in by the appropriate due date; it’s also equally as important to ensure your course costs are accurately calculated. The Colorado Rural Health, CREATE staff is available to answer questions or offer support in working through the math with you.
WHAT CREATE COVERS:
CREATE covers the basic tuition for beginning and continuing EMTS education at a 50% match for qualifying participants. As long as the request is included in the original application, CREATE will also reimburse for lodging and mileage, within reason.
WHAT CREATE DOES NOT COVER:
- Food – Meals and banquet costs will not be funded for any courses or conferences. This stipulation includes per diem food allowances for instructors.
- In-House Training Reimbursement/Salary Backfill – Salary backfill for staff to attend or to instruct courses is not allowed through CREATE funds but may be requested in the Personnel/Services category of the EMTS Provider Grants Program. More information on provider grants is located at www.coems.info under the Funding Program tab.
- Equipment – CREATE does not cover the cost of any type of equipment that is not directly related to the course itself, or is considered a requirement for the course. This includes, but is not limited to, iPads, simulators, manikins, etc.
- Prerequisite classes – CREATE will not reimburse for any prerequisites needed for paramedic courses that were not mentioned in the original application. Therefore, in the original application, be sure to explicitly state the prerequisites in the narrative portion, as well as list each course under “other costs” when filling out the Course Information.
