NFQ Call for Nominations to Behavioral Health Standing Committee

The National Quality Forum (NQF) has a new project named “Behavioral Health Endorsement Maintenance.” This multi-phase project seeks to endorse measures for improving the delivery of behavioral health services, achieving better behavioral health outcomes, and improving the behavioral health of the population, especially those with mental illness and substance abuse.

NQF is planning to establish a multi-stakeholder Standing Committee that will evaluate newly submitted measures and measures undergoing maintenance review and make recommendations for which measures should be endorsed as consensus standards. The Committee will work to identify and endorse new performance measures for accountability and quality improvement that specifically address care coordination. Measures including outcomes, treatments, diagnostic studies, interventions, or procedures associated with these conditions will be considered.

This Committee will be seated as a standing committee comprised of 20-25 individuals, with members serving terms that may encompass multiple measure review cycles. The members will initially be appointed to a 2 or 3 year term.

NQF is seeking a wide range of stakeholder perspectives to provide expertise on Behavioral Health Endorsement Maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity for the safety net community/HRSA to get involved to reflect the needs of the safety net population/providers in the behavioral health measurement area. Participation/representation enables our stakeholders to influence the measures endorsement process and outcome, thereby assuring that the necessary attention is given to the concerns of the safety net.

Please share this information with your grantees and HRSA Colleagues to nominate committee members. The Call for Nominations for Standing Committee members is open from NOV 04, 2013 09:00 AM through June 6, 2014 6:00pm ET. Below are the links to the application materials and the site.
