Anytime a request is being made to Treasury to refund an overpayment to Novitas Solutions, please use the Part B – Indian Health Services Return of Monies Form or a similar document and attach additional detail as appropriate.

If you have already received an Overpayment Notification and would like to request immediate recoupment, a fax request can be sent to 717-635-4222. Section 24.4 A of Chapter 24 provides instructions and a suggested form for use.

Effective 04/01/2014, Medicare is no longer accepting paper claims on the old CMS 1500 claim form with a date of 08-05 in the lower right hand corner. The new form has a date of 02-12. Qualifiers to identify an ordering, referring, or supervising role should be entered to the left of the dotted vertical line on item 17. Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) recently announced the launch of the CERT A/B MAC Contractor Task Force. All Part A and Part B MACs have come together with the intent to educate providers on costly claim denials and billing errors to Medicare. In response to positive feedback received by the provider community, the task force has modified its name to the CERT A/B MAC Outreach & Education Task Force.
