CEO Update: Happy National Rural Health Day
Each November since 2011 the Colorado Rural Health Center (CRHC), your State Office of Rural Health and Rural Health Association has been honored to officially celebrate our rural communities and the amazing work they accomplish day in and day out. National Rural Health Day, started by the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health, has grown not only into a day of celebration but a movement to recognize rural communities.
This year, CRHC was honored to celebrate the Rocky Ford Family Clinic, owned and operated by Doug Miller, FNP and Terry Miller. Through Doug’s leadership, the clinic has served the community by caring for the young to the old and built lasting and trusting relationships. Rocky Ford Family Clinic has been a leader amongst Rural Health Clinics through innovation and determination of integrating behavioral health, being one of the first independent RHCs to stand up an electronic medical record and incorporating quality improvement activities. Congratulations to everyone at Rocky Ford Family Clinic for your amazing work!
We’d also like to recognize Tammy Dunker, Assisted Living Director at Rangley District Hospital and Eagle Crest Assisted Living who was selected as Colorado’s Community Star.
“Tammy Dunker is not only an outstanding rural health leader but also a board member of the Colorado Rural Health Center, serving as the Secretary/Treasurer as well as Policy and Legislative Committee Lead” – You can read more about Tammy and her accomplishments here.
New this year, CRHC put together a line up of virtual activities to recognize the day.
CRHC hosted resiliency training, a Connect for Health Colorado enrollment webinar, a Safety Net Clinic Week video showing, a virtual yoga session, and Colorado trivia! If you missed it, you can still participate via the recordings:

Thank you to all our rural communities and National Rural Health Day!
