Remember those computer systems that you keep because they contain data (your old EHR or other systems that you no longer use)? What do you do with the systems and how long should you keep the data? This webinar will discuss the importance of managing and maintaining data in legacy systems. The participants will gain knowledge on how to manage, prioritize, maintain these systems that could be costing thousands of dollars and increasing risk to the organization.
At the end of the webinar, the participant will be able to:
- Explain the pro and cons of hoarding data
- Explore methods to catalog and organize your systems
- Understand key State and Federal regulations for retaining an managing data
- Determine the necessity of retaining and maintaining the data
About the Presenter
Amy Richardson – VP of Consulting Services for Haugen Consulting Group
Amy is responsible for leading the team of consultants in delivering creative business and technology solutions for healthcare providers. She works closely with clients on transitioning, optimizing electronic health information systems, education and implementation of ICD-10, and assessing and defining the legal health record.
Amy previously has worked as the Director of HIM and IT Applications at Denver Health Hospital and Authority, as well as working in a variety of managerial, technical and teaching positions in Health Information Management and healthcare settings during her professional career. She is an adjunct faculty member at Regis University teaching electronic health records in the Health Information Management curriculum and also studying for her Masters in Health Information and Informatics management.
