agosa Springs Medical Center Recognized by Colorado Rural Health Center as December’s Featured Member Community
Denver, Colo – Pagosa Springs Medical Center is a critical access hospital located in Pagosa Springs, Colorado.
“Pagosah” is the Southwestern Ute word for “healing waters”, and Pagosa Springs is world-famous for its hot springs. Located in Archuleta County, the scenic community of Pagosa Springs has 1,727 residents, making it a highly rural community. Surrounded by the San Juan National Forest and the Southern Ute Indian lands, Pagosa Springs offers countless recreational and outdoor activities such as skiing, hiking, and fishing. With four seasons and more than 300 days of sunshine every year, this is a wonderful place to visit and to call home.
Before Pagosa Springs Medical Center opened in 2008, the nearest hospital that served the surrounding community was located 60 miles away. Immediate critical services are provided to patients, level IV trauma care and other emergency services are available for the community. A wide scope of ancillary services is offered at the medical center including telemedicine and behavioral health.
Pagosa Springs Medical Center has been a CRHC member since 2010 – just two years after opening its doors. Since that time, the hospital has been involved in numerous programs and services at CRHC, including CRHC’s Improving Communications and Readmissions (iCARE) program, which focuses on improvements in processes that will help maintain low readmission rates. The hospitals certified rural health clinic is also highly engaged with CRHC, also participating in iCARE and has recently completed a Healthy Clinic Assessment (HCA), aimed at improving the facility’s business operations to benefit patients. Staff and providers also take advantage of CRHC’s vast educational and training opportunities by attending conferences, workshops and webinars to ultimately continue providing high quality healthcare services to their community.
CRHC is proud to feature Pagosa Springs Medical Center and the greater Pagosa Springs community as this month’s featured member community. To learn more visit http://pagosaspringsmedicalcenter.org/about/ .
